I've been loving the vampire diaries lately, I'm not saying that I don't still like Twilight, but I can't really explain why I like Twilight. If there's a vampire in it, I'm pretty sure I'm going to watch it and probably like it.
But with the new wave of vampire stories out there that revolve around love, unlike the Anne Rice novels which are about vampire isolation, these new vamipre shows and books are about vampires being out there and looking for acceptance. Whereas Anne Rice there were looking to coexist, they didn't care if humans accepted them or not.
First we'll start off with True Blood - Bill and Sookie. They're the reason why I'd never want TVD or SPN to be on cable tv. I like that show too but not as much as I like TVD. True Blood - there was like an orgy in every episode or Bill was biting into Sookie's neck and the whole time I'm thinking, "Just who in the hell is cleaning these sheets?" Someone snacking on me, makes me feel squeamish.
Moving on, Twilight. It's an insult when my sister says I'm like Bela, but then again, she moved from the state when I was 11 and hasn't spent enough time with me in the following 13 years to really know what I'm actually like but I digress. Bela is simple and that's fine if that's the way they want the movie to go but Twilight reminds me too much of like Roswell and I already love Roswell, there's no replacement. And is what Bela and Edward have called love? Or is she like his cat toy? You interest me, I think I won't kill you then. And she's like you sparkle in the sun...wanna play together?
But The Vampire Diaries is deep to me. Last Thursday's episode Stefan asked Elena if she wanted to forget that she ever met him and she said no. Not because of some unexplained infactuation, but because she actually likes him and cares about him. I'd care about Paul Wesley too, it's the jawline and the muscles that get me. But I think Elena likes him for more than just that. They have this cutesy little chats, and the way he looks at her and vice versa, I love a good love story.
I love Damon, I'd hang out with Damon, if I wasn't afraid that he'd kill me once he got tired of me.

"Captain's Log Stardate...er... oh wait that's right. Stardates don't exist yet. Well anyway, April 22, 2153. I had a meeting with Vulcan's this morning. I expect things to go smoothly. My science officer/sub-commander T'Pol believes it's a waste of time to ask what I'm asking for. But I think I have a fool proof plan."
Captain Archer is sitting at a meeting with Trip and T'Pol across from them are three Vulcan representatives. "No." The Vulcan man in the middle calmly said. T'Pol looked embarrassed and Trip looked amused. Captain Archer furrowed his brow he slammed his foot on the ground as he whined. "But why?" The Vulcan man in the middle spoke again, "Because we said so. We told the humans when we made first contact that we would help you in your advances." Archer folded his arms. "You'd be helping us if you'd just tell us how to make our ships faster than warp 5." The Vulcan leader spoke again, "Is this the only reason why you've called us here?" Archer ignored the question. "C'mon you have to tell us. All the other starship captains are laughing at us!" The Vulcan leader got up and the other two followed. "Don't call us again."
Captain Archer was sad to see the Vulcan's go he held T'Pol and Trip in the meeting room for another hour complaining about how unfair they were for not giving them the technology. "Can we go now?" Trip said as soon as Archer took a breath. "We'll T'Pol you can go. Trip I need to talk to you for a little while longer." T'Pol jumped up and ran out of the room. "What's on your mind Captain'" Archer seemed confused by the question and laughed a little. "You know." Trip looked confused. "I know what?" Archer sat down next to Trip. "This is our time to be alone and talk to each other about the things that are on our mind." Archer smiled at Trip. Trip felt uncomfortable. "I don't remember us doing that." Trip tried to find away to get back to the ship's engines. "Sure we do. Every episode we have a talk. Whether it's when we're under attack in the dessert, or being attacked by the spider web version of the blob, or even that time you didn't want me to help that man find his son. Boy, you were really pissed that day. But the point is, we talk about it Trip. And I appreciate that. I can't talk to T'Pol the same way I can talk to you." Trip stared at Archer for a moment. "Did you hear that?" Trip jumped up. Archer looked around "Hear what?" Trip was out the door already he shouted back. "I think the engines are failing. I've got to go check it out!" Trip ran down the hall as fast as he could.
Mayweather and Hoshi were having a meal together and they were trying to have a private discussion. "It's true Hoshi." Hoshi looked at Mayweather very skeptically. "I think it's in your head. I'm the one with the problems." Trip rushed over sat down and he put his head down. "Hey, Trip. I thought you'd be with the Captain." Trip looked up. "Now why would you say that. Why wouldn't you think that I'd be with T'Pol or in the engine room? Or hell in sick bay?" Hoshi looked at Mayweather and smiled. "Because about 80% of the time you're with the Captain. What do you guys talk about all of the time?" Hoshi leaned in. "Hey I have an idea. How about you two tell me what you're talking about." Trip said with a big smile. Mayweather and Hoshi snickered for a second. "Well, we were discussing which one of us has the most problems." Trip frowned. "What?" Mayweather cut in. "You haven't noticed? The only people who ever save the day is you, the captain, Lt. Reed, the doctor, or T'Pol. It's hardly ever us." Trip shrugged his shoulders. "No I didn't notice." Mayweather fussed with his food. "I mean I'm always in trouble." Hoshi's face faltered. "Prove it." Mayweather pulled up a website on the screen. "It's right here on wikipedia: Over the course of the series, Mayweather has been injured, incapacitated, or even "killed" more times than any other character in the primary cast." explain that Hoshi. Hoshi looked at the web site then at Mayweather, "You're going to get your facts from wikipedia?" she made a smarty-pants face. Trip sighed. "You both suck." Trip chimed in. "No one's had the heart to tell you that, but you both do." Hoshi scoffed. "What? How do I suck?" Trip sighed. "Really Hoshi? Are we forgetting the time we were sick and you were babbling in like 40 languages while you trying to open the air lock and kill the both of us? And you..." Trip turned to Mayweather "You were supposed to be guiding US through those caves but what happens mid-way through you break your ankle." The table was quiet for a moment. "At least I don't spend half of my time with the Captain." Mayweather said in a low voice. "That's it." Trip got up and left.
Trip walking down the hall trying to get to his room until he bummed into T'Pol. "Hey T'Pol, sorry about that. Where are you headed?" T'Pol looked at Trip without emotion. "I am on my way to my quarters where I will continue to deny all of my emotions."
Suddenly the crew got a message from another ship everyone rushed to the bridge. "We're being hailed." Hoshi announced. "Gee, is that what that beeping sound was, Hoshi? Put them through." Archer snapped at Hoshi. "Hello, my name is Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the Enterprise. We are from the future. My first officer convinced me that it would be a fun time for us to travel back in time to make fun of all of you. We'll beam ourselves aboard." Jean-Luc ended the transmission. Everyone on the bridge looked confused.
After being beamed aboard the TNG crew had various laughs at Enterprise's expense. Geordi couldn't stop laughing at their transporter. "Wait, you mean to tell me that's how far it reaches?" Geordi laughed so hard he couldn't control it. Captain Archer, T'Pol and Trip followed Picard and Riker down the hall. "What warp does your ship go to?" Archer shouted. "What do you mean?" Picard looked at Riker. "All of them?" he shrugged his shoulders. Archer shouted a "Yes! How far in the future are you from?" Picard was in the dining hall looking around. "We're from 2366." Archer looked shocked. "What?" Picard looked at him. "Oh yes. By the time Enterprise would've reached maximum warp you'd be very dead, my fellow Captain." Archer frowned. "Not fair."
Picard giving up finally asks. “Where is your replicator?” Archer looked around at his crew. “Our what?” Riker started to snicker. “You’re replicator.” Picard paused and then started talking to them very slowly. “How do you get your food?” Riker tapped Picard on the shoulder. “I think they cook it.” Picard looked shocked. “What?” Archer sighed. “Okay, that’s enough.” Picard cut him off. “Wait a second…what warp does your ship go to?” Archer looked around very uncomfortably before mumbling. “Five.” Picard leaned forward. “I’m sorry I didn’t hear you. I didn’t get that.” Archer stood up straight. “Five. We go to warp five.” Trip in the background could be heard saying “Barely.” Archer shushed him but it was too late. Riker and Picard were besides themselves with laughter. The intercom systems beeped. “Will. “ It was Deanna Troi. Riker stopped laughing. “Um…uh yes.” He said finally confident. “I know you wanted to cheer the Captain up because he used to be a Borg, but now it’s time to come back home.” Riker looked around embarrassed. “Sure, honey. We’re on our way.” Picard was making fun of Riker by making whipping noises. “Hey man. Shut up. At least I have a girl.” Picard stopped laughing. “Hey… watch it. I had…I had a girlfriend.” Riker leaned forward. “Who Jean Grey?” Picard looked at Riker in shock. “No, her name was Kamala.” Riker put his hand on Picard’s shoulder. “Who cares what her name is at the end of your relationship you had to help in the ceremony to get her married to another guy. So I still have the girl and you don’t.” Picard looked mad. “Well, I’m still Captain. Try that on. And anyway if I wanted I could take Deanna away from you if I wanted.” Riker laughed. “Sure. Well this trip to the past has been funny and extremely depressing. Let’s go back home. We have to go to the bridge first.” Picard, Riker and Geordi had one long good laugh at the ships bridge before finally leaving. Archer stopped them before they were beamed up. “Captain Picard. What is a Borg?” The three looked at each other very seriously trying not to break into laughter before they were transported.
“Well, that was unsettling.” T’Pol said to no one in particular. “Trip. I want to see you in my office about this.” Hoshi and Mayweather started snickering. “Uh, sorry Cap’n I need too…uh…give T’Pol a back massage. “
So after hearing the news about the new girl a swirl of thoughts came to mind. Shortly after the those thoughts came to mind fear was not to far behind.
What kind of character will the new girl be? I know she's going to be Sam's girlfriend, and gosh does he need one. But did she arrive after Dean comes back? Does she arrive before Dean comes back? Is she evil? Is she not who she seems to be? Will I like her and then will Eric and co. kill her? Will any of this be good to the show???
And then I realized, all this speculation will not only ruin my summer, but my social life - the small life that it is. So I am taking a vow that I think all Supernatural fans should take:
My Supernatural Vow
I, Lauren one of the biggest Supernatural fans, vow not to hate the new girl before she has her episode debut. I promise not to prejudge her and be as objective as I possibly could.
I am going insane promoting my father's book. Any help we can get well take, provided it's legal, lol.
It's a good story I believe in.
It was really fun to go to FedCon even though it got cancelled, I got to meet a lot of cool people and I'm hoping to get into to Jump Con or Dragon Con or both! I hope we do. I like meeting nice people.
--Anyway, I'm such a nerd for Supernatural and I just saw the video of Jared announcing his non-engagement to Sandy. And I was so on board for them to be together, they're so cute together and she seems really sweet. I had it all pictured in my head Jensen would be best man, I- I've just given far, FAR too much tought into their relationship than what a normal person would have, lol.

btw, I'm writing a short story here's part of it:
"Oh that's real great. That's terrific." Maria said as she looked up to Lonnie in the balcony. Lonnie turned to her new friend Jacob who was smoking a cigarette. "What?" Lonnie responded having no idea of what Maria was talking about. "Yea, you spend three years of your life to quit smoking only to be sitting right next to a guy who's blowing smoke right down your lungs!" Lonnie gave a puzzled look as she brushed her hair out of her face. "We'll it's not like I'm smoking the cigarette." Jacob grinned as he took another drag. "I need new friends." Maria said as she saunted away. "Hey, where are you going?" Lonnie called after her.
I'm not going to give you the standard stupid reasons why I hate Bela. Like: she shot Sam, or I hate her voice, or her overbite, or her hair or she flirts with Dean. Although those reasons do add to the irritation.
I hate Bela because she was clearly thrown in there.
Bad Day at Black Rock
That should of been the first and last time we see Bela. Fine I'll give you one more episode for her, but that should of been it.
What is she?
Is she a mercenary/theif or a con-artist because the next time we see her she's scammin old ladies. I know, I know who wants a character to have just one agenda because that'll make her one-dimentional. But come on! The boys have been hunting for their lives and they've never met or heard about anyone like her?
The Inconsistency
You can't in one episode not care if Sam dies shoot the man and then work together in the next episode we see her. Knowing what kind of person she is and her motives the boys still work together with her and are all "Oh, oh my God I'm so shocked she stole from us!" When the hand is stolen from them? She shot Sam why are you working with her in the first place? John would've never let them do something like that.
She's Useless
What in the world was the point of her being in Fresh Blood? Did Gordon really need her to find Sam and Dean? He found them before. Yes, yes, Roadhouse connections - no more Roadhouse. But Gordon said before "You know how hunters like to talk." He could of found them another way. Then the phone call where she's all don't kill me. A) Do you really think Dean was going to kill Bela? and B) The info she gave wasn't very helpful. You could've taken that scene out of the episode and the show still would of went on without skipping a beat.
Obviousness
Now we're supposed to care about her, after we've been conditioned to hate her. Ohhh, Bela who'd you kill? Here's why it'll be cliche and predictable. Her father was probably a hunter. (She's obviously has issues with hunters.) She probably had to off her dad in a mercy killing type thing. You watch. I'll eat a brussel sprout if it's nothing like I just said. And boy do I hate those things. And you watch, the "mojo bag" that's so precious that Gordon is walking around with it out in the open on his waist. Will play a major part in her becoming a good character and helping the boys out. Which will also annoy me to no end.
And oh yea, she freaking shot Sam. You can't justify that. It's not okay to shoot people, ever! I don't care if you barely grazed him or not. What the hell is wrong with her?
The Promos
I think I have more of a problem with the promos for the show. The announcer makes everything seem so important: "Nothing will be the same!" "Everything changes." "Very important" "Must see" and then you watch it and it's a regular episode, and you're kinda like, that's it? Jut say it's a regular episode, don't hype it all up.
Little Old for High School
I'll start by saying I do like Blake but she looks her age (not an insult) but she doesn't look like she's in high school. I get it a lot of kids don't look like they're in high school, but it takes away from the show for me and I feel like I'm looking at this girl who's about to graduate college and not a high schooler. I'm sorry it was easier to lie to me when I was younger and think oh, when I'm 16 I'll look like her, no, no you don't look like that. Now that I'll be 22 soon, I know what teenagers look like. I had the same problem with Benjamin Mackenzie, he looked like he was 40, lol. You know what I mean. Wow, that went on longer than what it should have.
Like the girl who plays Blair and the guy who plays Nate, they do look like children to me. I still think Willa Holland should be stuck in there somewhere but I digress. What is up with the two minority girls who are always together and dress alike. Are they supposed to be a running gag or something?
Freakin' Vanessa
Now on to Vanessa, who irks the hell out of me. She's always hanging around. I mean I know she' s Dan's best friend. But you lose, you lost. She had her chance to be with Dan and she blew it and now she's just there. I'm not saying I don't find her story interesting and to get rid of her, because her character is very real. But I just think she has a lot of nerve. Blair and I would never be friends in real life, I'd probably more likely be friends with Vanessa (I know I'm contradicting myself but let me finish) I would never go into someone else's house and tape that person's obviously private conversation and then give them a hard time about giving up the videotape. She wasn't even invited, AND THAT'S WHY!
Dan
I love Dan. I don't know why people want to go out with him. But Dan is hilarious. Nuff said.
Jenny
Give Jenny a freakin' break. She doesn't want to be poor. Her parents made poor life's decisions and she has to pay for it? Everyone knows that musicians and artists don't make that much money. Those aren't the greatest career moves.
Kristen Bell is great as Gossip Girl. I love the narration. It's not cheesy like the wonder years. But I'm sure in a few years Gossip Girl will be seen as being cheesy as the Wonder Years becuase tv evolves.
My favorites being Take the Box, Back to Black and In My Bed. Those songs are almost haunting. She tells these stories in her songs that are very real and very powerful that you feel and get every line and every word of what she's saying, like she's been watching me or something. And she helps you realize that, you are living life and either a) you'll grow out of it or b) it's up to you to change your ways.
The album Back to Black seemed to be a part two of Frank. One album sounded like a continuation of the other, maybe it's because I have untrained ears. I love Take the Box because I felt it. Even though, I've never had a situation like Take the Box, I could have and it was just a song that you understood.
Stronger than Me, was my life actually. It almost seems unfair to expect your man to take the dominate role in a relationship but at the same time retain your independence but you can't be expected to coddle someone, you want them to keep their own independence and for lack of a better phrase, man-up. Too many times in my life have I met men who were absolute bitches. And here I am trying to find myself and be comfortable in my feminity but females aren't like the females that we should be. Because of certain men in our generation a lot of women have become the man in the relationship. It should be fun to be a girl and a lot of times it's not, because the women have to man-up.
Addicted and Fuck Me Pumps are funny songs. I play those for a laugh.
I hope Amy Winehouse gets things together. I would hate for her to become one of those musical geniuses who die young.
The fourth season was amazing, not just because of Taylor but also because of Summer and Seth. They actually had a purpose, Summer was finding herself, Seth was trying to find his place with Summer. So cool. And Ryan's dad being Hercules and him falling in love with Julie Cooper, it was a great, great change. I didn't even get to Taylor yet. She was freakin hilarious, I saw a bit of myself in her, except I don't think I was that out there, at least I hope not. But she was still endearing. Ryan and Taylor actually were more of a couple than Marissia and Ryan. Marissia and Ryan fought all the time because of something one of them, mostly Marssia did, boring and obnoxious.
I found Sandy and Kirsten very adorable as well. Everyone's storylines, even the introduction of the annoying Bullit made the show better. I wish it was never cancelled now.
Anyway, let me get into Torchwood. At first I hated Jack, his in your face, I'm in charge attitude was really off-putting to me. But then I watched a few more episodes, and learned a few things about Jack. I didn't know that he was from the future, and I didn't know he was pretty funny. But it wasn't Jack who made me change my mind about Jack. It was everyone else! Owen, I sometimes like Owen, he's that guy in the show who has serious problems he's rude and he's blunt and you have to make sure he's doing what he's supposed to be doing and not doing your girlfriend. Toshiko, she's just there. She's the computer girl, and that's it. You would think it's Torchwood and she's supposed to be freaking-fantastic but she's pretty much a yawn to me. Gwen - she's a tart to me. She always seems afraid and like she doesn't belong, really what does she do? And Ianto, he's good at getting coffee and hiding cyber-women in the basement. So, Jack is pretty awesome. He has to be, everyone else is just blah, they're just there and doing things they shouldn't be doing.
The storylines are killer. I love the different stories and you have no idea where things are going. This is the only show where there's a pteroldactyl in the attic and a cyber-chick in the basement. It's a very, very cool show.
I like Dr. Who, but there's been what nine doctors? That's too many seasons to follow. Even still, I think the Tardis is the greatest invention ever to be created on tv. Forget teleportation, Tardis' are grown? They're alive? They change form? It is freakin awsome.
But Torchwood is more of my speed, it's sci-fi lite, just enough for me to follow without having to of seen the show from the beginning.
P.S Suzie was absolutely crazy, man.
I still have a few eps to see, believe it or not I did not see these episodes in order. I didn't see Everything Changes, Day One, and Random Shoes.
Jack and Owen crack me up.
JACK: Not a clue. Could be a weapon, or a really big stapler. How's our friend there?

It is now Supernatural Portal.com, yes my crazy ass made it a dot com and spent more money on Supernatural. Why not? I love the show and no fandom is bad fandom.
You'll have to excuse it's apperance, I'm working on it. I can't work on it at work like I used to, because they went out and got more security cameras but this time behind the recept. desk, so now they can see EVERYTHING I'm doing. I don't think I clocked out last night, damn it. Anyway, Supernatural has nothing to do with my job, so if they found out I'm working on that while at work I don't think my boss would be too pleased.
Unless he was a Supernatural fan too? Hmmmm. I wonder. Anyway, I'm going to go spruce it up some more.

What's new with me?
I'm working on Thanksgiving 8am-9pm and at make things worse I work the next day 4-8 and the next day 2-8 and the next day 9-5. This is going to be one hell of a paycheck.
Anyway, I started a new business, I'm in the webdesign business now. I'm not an expert and I realize that to get a professional web site it'll cost an arm and a leg so it's a trade off, I make you a website and I only charge you an arm.

Bright side. There's a gala event at the Hyatt I'm going to. I'm so excited! It's two days before my birthday, so it's kinda like it was meant for mea ha! I need to pick out a gown, so much fun, but I don't know what kind. Everyone says black but man, I want to stand out! I'm so excited! It's in January I have plenty of time, I hope I don't get too busy.
My ideas are sketchy or either too detailed...haha...bear with me, it'll make sense in the end.
Sam and Dean run into a gypsy or physic or whatever and sees they've killed she puts a whammy on them and now they're being visited by some unusual visitors.
Sam is visited by all the dead psykids. They tell him to embrace the life and become in charge and make something of his life by being a leader.
Dean is visited by John. Who scolds Dean for not taking better care of himself and of Sam.
Each brother is afraid to tell the other because well Sam has demon blood and doesn't want to freak Dean out.
Dean doesn't tell because he thinks it's just guilt for not doing more with his life because Dean has low self esteem.
A little girl, who's so cute because she has a crush on Sam tells them that they could see the apparitions.
The hunt begins. As it turns out, one of the apparitions is in fact a demon who's trying to manipulate the boys. One of the psykids is either still alive or brought back to life.
And that's my idea, lol! I don't have an ending. I just think that John and the Psykids should come back in some sort of capactiy.
Yes, this is sort of a take from my all time fave Buffy episode Conversations with Dead People. I think that the concept is interesting because how much of what's going on is the boy's own thoughts are the demon preying on their fears?

I don't know how much of a possibilty it'll be but because of the strike, I think that contests should be held for new writers. Even if the episodes aren't made it's still a chance for new writers to get noticed, by SOMEONE in the biz. Everyone who is now know doesn't have anything handed to them, but if you have the talent but you don't have the connects, to me that's what the internet is about connecting with people you wouldn't otherwise be connected with.
I know how hard it is, my father's written a science fiction book and it's hard to find the people to buy it. Not to mention the fact we believe we're being ripped off from our publishing company, so that's an issue too as well as promotion. Escape 2 Earth
I try what I can for him, I make videos: book commercials, I write press releases, I've made his webpage, I typed the book for him: the work is all his he wrote it long hand, but I typed it for him. So it's been a time, it came out April 2006 and we're still working on it. We hope to turn it into a movie, someday....someday. haha!
I really hope the writers strike is resolved soon. I love Sera Gamble and Raelle Tucker are awsome story editors, I don't just watch Supernatural for the eye candy, lol! The story is compelling to me. I was a fan of Buffy, Roswell, Angel, and Charmed, but Supernatural to me is in it's own category.
Being able to write for me is exciting, you can really do whatever you want! And that's really appealing to me.

hopeful - Music:It Only Takes A Minute - Travers
My first posting on supernatur_icons has taught me that, I need more practice. I'm going to be at work tomorrow for six and a half hours. So, if you know of any good tutorials, send them my way.
I also need to find a cool layout for my lj.
I'm currently using my mom's computer which sucks, I hope the defrag will make it go faster, using PSP makes it go extra EXTRA slow. I want to make icons for Bad Day at Black Rock.

I'm sorry I made the icons too BIG and stretched out eveyone's layout over in supernatu_icons, I didn't mean to.
I think I know how to fix it now everyone's comments were helpful.
I'm going to cry, I did some of them wrong! Or all of them wrong because NONE of them are 100x100.
I'll do better next time.
